Planned flower beds

This is the main focus this year, previously used for either nothing, weeds, potatoes and varying vege crops. This year I have a new plan, flowers!!!!!

Question is how I am going to plant anything in this? This is the area I am considering asking someone to rotovate for me this year. My concern about marestail and spreading the perennial thistles is still there but as we are already delayed this year, I don't want another lotty year where I am the only one growing a gag stash of weeds and nothing else.

Waving willow

Apologies for the blurred image, it was really windy on the lotty, sneaky easterly as well!!! The willow is still doing well and have some furry buds to prove it. Considering planting some more next winter but will see how they far during this year and a hard prune at the end of the year.

Rhubarb rhubarb

So far the rhubarb is looking promising. Since planting I haven't harvested anything so am hoping for a change this year. Love rhubarb crumble!!

Snow on hill

I had extra days off in March and this Easter break with the grand intentions of being organised at the lotty this year. However, as you can just see there is still snow on the hill which is behind the lotty. This has led to a new rule for me; no digging, sowing or planting if snow is still visible!!

It is unusual for March and there is also snow still visible on the hills near home (different hills), in fact the garden still has traces hiding where the sun doesn't reach. Guess I will just to have to be more patient this year, it was -3c this morning and if I was a little seed can't say I would be too pleased being plunged into freezing soil!!
