New year new plans

Happy new year to all bloggers!!

The start of a new year brings with it the inevitable resolutions on being better at doing things, promising that you will visit the allotment more, plan the planting year more thoroughly and general optimism.

As a gardener, I firmly believe that optimism is par of the course, the gardener knows that if a poor showing from the previous season has blighted them then there is always next year, next season and another sowing to try again. The ability to keep trying again, testing out new ideas, trying new varieties and new plants is all part of the excitement and buzz of gardening and undoubtedly the challenge of allotment growing!

I like to think I am a reasonable gardener, but reflecting on my allotment success so far,  as one tends to do at this time of the year, then I realise I still have plenty to learn!

So for the New Years resolutions that I didn't intend to make, then giving the allotment another bash, looking at new planting plans and trying out new ideas will definitely be the focus for the coming year. Apologies that there is nothing new there, but you never know, I may unearth some gems and try out new plants and options that may be a bit more interesting. Rest assured I will continue to blog on what happens or simply upload photos, although I will try and make them a bit more interesting than just photos of the weeds this time around!

Failing that, anyone know a good use for marestail, dandelions and thistles....?
